In 1845, a courageous mother and daughter escape slavery on a Texas plantation and embark on a dangerous journey south to Mexico — where slavery has already been abolished. Inspired by true events, this powerful play reveals a rarely told chapter in American history.
For 31 years Express Children’s Theatre has been delighting children on the Hill with interactive plays that celebrate and ignite a love for learning. Each performance is written with the hearts and minds of children at the forefront and performed by incredible local talent.
The mission of Express Children’s Theatre is to create and perform professional, culturally diverse performing arts and education to Greater Houston’s children and families.
Since 1991, they have been touring original performances to schools, daycare centers, hospitals, museums, houses of worship, private homes and theatres throughout South Texas and beyond.
