Full Gallop Presents the 3rd Annual Louisiana in Texas, a celebration of music and culture that flows between the Texas and Louisiana border.

Get ready, Houston, this year, we’re turning it all the way up! Louisiana in Texas returns to Miller bigger and bolder than ever, and we’re bringing the spirit of New Orleans straight to you! Headlining this year’s festival is the legendary Big Sam’s Funky Nation, direct from the Crescent City, delivering an electrifying mix of funk, soul, brass, and beyond that you have to feel to believe.

But the music is just the beginning. This year’s event is also a proud celebration of Creole Heritage Month, honoring the rich traditions and incredible contributions that Creole culture has made to the musical history of the Louisiana-Texas border. From zydeco rhythms to soulful blues, this region’s sound is one of a kind – and we’re here to celebrate every note of it.

Whether you’re a longtime Louisiana music lover or discovering it for the first time, this is a free, family-friendly event you won’t want to miss.

Full Gallop strives to bridge cultures and connect communities through creative collaborations and programs. We are sponsored on this project by Fresh Arts who empower local artists through programs that build knowledge, amplify local resources, and connect communities through art.

All performances at Miller Outdoor Theatre are FREE!

Why You Should Come to Louisiana in Texas at Miller Outdoor Theatre

  • It’s a free concert in the park — no ticket unless you want one . Louisiana in Texas is a free, family-friendly event at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park, Houston. Bring a lawn chair, bring the kids, bring your neighbor who “doesn’t really go to concerts.”
  • The headliner is the real deal from New Orleans- Big Sam’s Funky Nation brings a live brass-and-funk experience straight from the Crescent City — the kind of band that makes it physically impossible to stand still. If you’ve never heard a full funk brass band live, this is the night to do it!
  • You’ll hear sounds you can’t find anywhere else – Louisiana in Texas showcases genres born along the Louisiana-Texas border — zydeco, funk, soul, blues, and Creole music. These aren’t just music styles, they’re living traditions that shaped American music as we know it.
  • It’s Houston’s only celebration of Creole Heritage Month through live music – This year’s event proudly honors Creole Heritage Month, making it more than a concert — it’s a cultural celebration of the communities, stories, and sounds that connect Louisiana and Texas.
  • You don’t need to know anything about this music to love it- Louisiana in Texas is specifically designed for first-timers and longtime fans alike. The energy, the rhythm, and the brass will do all the work — you just show up.
  • It’s family-friendly and genuinely fun for all ages- Whether you’re bringing toddlers, teenagers, or your parents, the vibe is welcoming, joyful, and open to everyone. Hermann Park is the perfect backdrop for an evening that feels like a mini road trip to the Gulf Coast without leaving Houston.
  • This is its third year — and it keeps getting bigger- Louisiana in Texas has grown every year since Full Gallop launched it. This year’s edition is the largest yet, which means more music, more culture, and more reasons to show up early and stay late.
