Aaja – A Tale of Karmic Destiny

Aaja – a Tale of Karmic Destiny  is the first production to flawlessly combine Bollywood, Cirque, and contemporary styles into an intriguing and beautifully told story.

The story follows a young woman in a surreal, dream-like Bollywood world. Drawing upon the mythical tales of ancient India, she encounters various characters such as an aerial goddess, a hypnotic serpent, an enchanting fire-eater, mysterious ballerinas and an enigmatic enchantress who change her world for the better by enabling her to experience her Karmic journey as it unfolds.

Creator and choreographer Kavita Rao of Karmagraphy is internationally and regionally renowned for her distinctive contemporary dance styles that combine techniques of eastern and western dance. For years, Rao and her team have been innovating new ways to bring the palatable style of South Asian dance to the Western world and with “Aaja”, Kavita has created a fresh take on both Bollywood and Cirque styles of performance or “Bollycirque,” a fusion of aerial and acrobatic arts with classic and modern Bollywood style dance techniques and musical styling.

This is a ticketed event for the covered seating area.
