Tony nominee Ann Hampton Callaway, one of the leading pop/jazz singers of our time, has created an exciting night of songs and stories in celebration of one of America’s most beloved artists, Linda Ronstadt. This exciting concert will end the 2019 free season at Miller Outdoor Theatre in Hermann Park. She’s accompanied by musical director and former Houstonian, Billy Stritch!
On the heels on Ann’s symphonic/PAC triumph, The Streisand Songbook, the Linda Ronstadt Songbook celebrates the many faces of love in Ronstadt’s iconic songs from her Stone Poney days like “Different Drum” and “Long Long Time” to pop/rock classics like “You’re No Good,” and “Desperado,” as well as unforgettable classics from her three Nelson Riddle albums like “What’s New,” “I’ve Got A Crush on You,” and “Someone To Watch Over Me”, to her iconic duets which Callaway will perform with her brilliant MD, Billy Stritch. Adding to the electrifying sound is Martin Wind on bass, Tim Horner on drums, and Linda’s long time guitarist and arranger, Bob Mann.
Ms. Callaway, the consummate entertainer, will also engage the crowd from the piano, asking for words and phrases from the audience to create an awe-inspiring Ronstandt-esque improv song-on-the-spot. Romantic, rousing and joyous, Ann Hampton Callaway: The Linda Ronstadt Songbook promises to be the perfect night of music.
This is a homecoming for music director Billy Stritch who was born and raised in Sugar Land, TX. An accomplished pianist, arranger, composer, and producer, he’s performed across the globe from Carnegie Hall in New York, The Palais de Congres in Paris, The Municipale in Rio de Janeiro, The Russiya in Moscow, NHK Hall in Tokyo and The Royal Albert Hall in London. He was the composer for the Reba McEntire hit song “Does He Love You” and was a producer, pianist, and arranger for Liza Minnelli for over 20 years.

This is a ticketed event for the covered seating area. Free tickets are available (4 per person over age 16 while they last) at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office the day of the performance between the hours of 10:30 AM-1:00 PM. If tickets remain at 1:00 PM, the box office will re-open one hour before show time to distribute the remaining tickets. As always, open seating on the hill.
