When the glamorous courtesan Violetta and young Alfredo fall for each other, nothing can tear them apart. But tragedy unfolds as family, classism, and deceit plague their relationship, and true love is shaken to its core.

Perfect for first-time opera goers and family audiences, Verdi’s La traviata is one of the world’s most performed operas and features beloved arias like “Brindisi” (“The Drinking Song”) and “Sempre Libera.”

Join us for HGO’s dazzling original production from director Arin Arbus, led by an outstanding pair of talents: soprano Meryl Dominguez as Violetta and tenor Ricardo Garcia as her lover, Alfredo.

In fulfilling its mission to advance the operatic art to serve an ever-evolving audience, The Houston Grand Opera leads the field in commissioning new works (74 world premieres to date) and in training and nurturing promising young artists and administrators.
