Aperio, Music of the Americas presents a grooving program of minimalist music and Lo-Fi jams perfect for a summer evening.

The concert is anchored by the full-length, live orchestral performance of DJ Sun’s latest release, Loveletter. Sun’s work and creative edges are steeped in diverse musical experiences drawing from his roots in Rotterdam and Suriname.  With elements of soul, jazz, and some reggae and dance influences, this concert is sure to have something for everyone.

Loveletter’s soulful arc is complemented by Steve Reich’s rock-inspired Radio Rewrite, and his Duet for Two Violins and Chamber Orchestra – a work of stunning, crystalline beauty.

Maestro Marlon Chen conducts Aperio’s orchestra with guest soloists.

Aperio, Music of the Americas is a Houston-based ensemble dedicated to presenting unique chamber music in performances that showcase contemporary composers from the Americas. Through an interactive performance format, the ensemble’s programming examines the art music of South and North America, focusing particularly on musical contributions drawn from many indigenous and foreign cultures. Aperio advocates for the creation and promotion of new works by both emerging and established composers, often exploring the relationship between selected repertoire and other art forms.
