My First Orchestral Concert
Produced by
Prelude Music Foundation

This is a non-ticketed performance.

This performance will not be livestreamed.

Prelude Music Foundation proudly presents My First Orchestral Concert, an opportunity for young children and their families to sing, dance, and celebrate the power of music.

This interactive 45-minute concert features musicians from some of Houston’s leading performing arts organizations, including the Houston Symphony, Apollo Chamber Players, and Mercury Chamber Orchestra.

During the performance, families will learn about the different instruments in the orchestra as the conductor describes the instruments on stage, calling children’s attention to how the instruments are played, the different sounds they make, and the many ways that we can make music together.

The Prelude Music Foundation (PMF) transforms the lives and education of children in Houston through the power of music. PMF accomplishes this mission by bringing weekly Music Together® classes and curriculum into classrooms of over 4,000 Pre-K and Kindergarten age students in low-income and Title I schools across Houston. The Music Together® curriculum utilized by PMF uniquely aligns with early childhood curricula and comprehensively supports early brain development. In addition, it fosters children’s musical growth, specifically supporting basic music competence (singing in tune and moving with accurate rhythm) while
inspiring a life-long love of active music-making.
