With cross-cultural conversation and collaborative storytelling, Sharing Stories incorporates Indian classical dance, flamenco, and theater arts into a unique, family-friendly experience for diverse audiences.

Act 1 of Sharing Stories is a Kathak-Flamenco curtain raiser featuring two dynamic dance ensembles, accompanied by live musicians from Indian classical and Spanish folk tradition, who will create a captivating, high-energy, foot-tapping artistic conversation.

Act 2 is the feature presentation, ‘Chakryavyuh: Battle Against the Odds’, an original Indian classical dance-theater production that tells the story of a 16-year old warrior who fought fearlessly, trapped in the unbreakable battle formation, the Chakravyuh, in the epic Kurukshetra war of Indian mythology. The story is a tale of bravery, deceit, familial bonds and feuds, war strategy, and maternal angst taken from the ancient Sanskrit epic, the Mahabharata.

Silambam Houston was founded in 2002 by Dr. Lavanya Rajagopalan, for the promotion and development of the arts, to impart artistic education, and promote young talent in the performing arts.
